Coming into the home stretch on this meme!
Answer here is self-explanatory. Illya was more interesting when he was more Russian. He lost more and more of that part of his character in each successive season after the first. And that is something I would definitely change if I could.

Date: 2011-07-16 02:37 am (UTC)I liked the idea he was Russian, and when writing Illya keep it in the back of my mind. I didn't find him less interesting as the series went on, I think the chemistry between NS and IK became more central over time and I liked that. But I would also have liked a little more attention to his Soviet background.
