Day 10 – Least favorite villain: Backstreet and Beirut (from THE MATTERHORN AFFAIR)

This was a tough one for me not because there aren't several villains in MFU I don't like (though the series also had a myriad of very memorable villains), but more because the ones I don't like don't stay separate in my mind. Their personalities just kind of all mush together into a generic "baddie".

I chose Backstreet and Beirut, however, because the pair apparently were intended to parody characters in THE MALTESE FALCON and well, it just doesn't work.

They never seem truly menacing and they are truly incompetent Thrush. Nothing at all interesting about them; thus their least favorite villain status for me.

I find that I don't remember the baddies at all, other than the professor in 'Gorilla' and I only remember him because it makes me literally sick in my stomach to look at him.

'Matterhorn' is not an episode I rush to watch, but maybe I'll pull it out today seeing you have highlighter its baddies.

As long as you don't blame me if watching this lousy episode makes you cranky! [chuckle}

The whole episode is tedious, and they're definitely part of the problem. They're not funny either, which would have helped a bit. The one joke of Backstreet mistaking Klump for an agent gold old very very quickly.

I think the episode will be forever remembered for NS and IK on their ice cream parlor date :D
